Time and Dirt
(First Day -- Previous Day -- Day 5 -- Next Day)
Day 5
Heliopause Colony on Planet Vertumna, Medbay
“Solane, hello. ... It’s so lonely out here now. Even with those I got along well before, like Rex or Nomi, I feel I can barely talk to anymore. Every time I try to tell them about you they don’t say anything and just change the subject abruptly. I never see them here in medbay either... Weren’t they your friends? How can they not care?
I can’t even bring myself to really look after the xenos anymore. Your father was so good at that, but that terrifying alien fungus ... There’s someone else doing it now but I keep hearing pained sounds from the barn. I don’t think they’re doing a good job...
At least I still have the plants, the fields with crops, and the park with all the flowers your mother created when she... when she was still around, but it’s still lonely, even with the couple farm aids around. The plants miss their other parent, and I miss your company, your fun nature, your biology facts... We all miss you. You’re the only one who ever really understood me. Please remember that...
Oh, right, I got you these native flowers. They have these big yellow petals, a wonderful scent and I heard they might purify the air. Probably a topic you’d be really interested in if you could sink your teeth into it now... I’ll leave them in a vase next to the bed, okay? If you wake up when I’m not here at least you’ll have a reminder that I was there, that *someone* was here to look after you.”
